Incredibly affordable and uniquely designed to play your digital media, Malata's super-slim DVD-806 lets you spin your homemade digital music and photo CDs for listening through your stereo or surround system and viewing on your television.
The player is also ready for your favorite movies, of course, in either standard NTSC or in the PAL format (region 1 or all-region discs only). Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DVD-806 can deliver the full potential of your DVDs through its advanced MDDI progressive scanning. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.
Top-of-the-line component-video outputs (switchable between 480p and standard 480i) help minimize digital and line-scan artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.
A set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each of RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver, or decoded and sent to "Dolby-ready" receivers via a set of 6 RCA analog outputs.
A parental lock keeps young eyes off mature content.

Test Report
Another one that died young, April 20, 2005 Reviewer: daveotto - It worked great while it lasted, but just after the 90 day warranty expired, it stopped showing any picture on the coaxial output (you can still hear the sound), and the SVHS output is now black and white. I don't have any monitor capable of displaying the component output, so I can't say if that method is also affected. Given that the warranty is so short, and that the little money I spent for it is now a complete waste because of the short warranty, I wouldn't buy another of these.

Well worth the money, April 14, 2005 Reviewer: B. Sun "sb43201" (Columbus, Ohio) -
Malata is one of the top DVD player makers in China, and this is the 3rd DVD player that I bought from Wanlida/Malata. All have worked flawlessly so far and this one plays almost everything I throw in, DVD+R, DVD-R, MP3, JPEG photo, NTSC/PAL movies.....way more flexiable than my Aiwa. The display is made of inexpensive LED but very functional. There's nothing more you can ask for a $25 machine. I'm very pleased with this purchase.
Rebate came just after my unit died, April 13, 2005 Reviewer: C. Wan -
I agree with all the reviews. It was a great unit--while it lasted. I had high hopes for Malata--my dad had another China-made DVD player and it worked flawlessly in a high-end stereo system. Well, the Malata arrived at my home just in time to relieve a dying DVD player. It worked great for about 2 weeks, then one day it just quit playing CDs and VCDs properly--it paused for seconds every half minute or so! (...)! Fine, I thought. I had a dedicated CD player--I'll just use the Malata for DVDs. (...), and the Malata is starting to eat my DVDs alive--my wife put in a DVD, and when she opened the tray it was empty!!! Man, oh man, should I send this thing in to repair while it's still under the 90 days of warranty, or should I just save the postage money for another DVD player?
A whole lot of DVD player for a little price, April 11, 2005 Reviewer: V. Roth (Midwest) -
I have had this player for about 2 weeks now and I am pleased with my purchase. The things I like about it are as follows: Its cheap. I wasn't expecting much. It is very slim. The dvd tray moves very quickly and movies load quickly also. It plays DVD+R and DVD-R movies that my other dvd player won't even read.
There are a few things I am a little concerned about with it and that is its sturdiness. The DVD tray feels like it would snap off if I placed anything other than a dvd in it. Also the remote is very cheap. The buttons work ok on the remote but it is not put together with quality materials.
Other than those few concerns, I would recommend purchasing one.

Got it and played it for 1 month. It played everything. Played all DVDs from Asia and US smoothly. Good video and sound quality. For this price, no complaint.
